Skype, Microsoft’s VoIP app, has long been available on both Android and iOS for years now as well. Late last year, Microsoft rolled out Cortana, its digital assistant, to both iOS and Android and Office and Outlook have also been available for both platforms for some time now. This is just another example of how Microsoft is rebranding itself from a software vendor to a software services company. While the Android version is not officially announced yet, one can only assume that they mean that platform as well, and once the software is fully tested on iOS you can expect to see them roll out the same keyboard for the Android platform as well. The company also said that it plans to roll out the keyboard to other platforms as well, but it was beginning with iOS. In the same email, Microsoft said, “Word Flow keyboard has long been one of the highly praised features on Windows Phone and was used to break the Guinness World Record for fastest texting.” People who receive the email are also invited to join the beta program, allowing interesting parties to give the keyboard a test drive before it officially goes live. In the email to iOS users for example, the company said that they think their “native iOS keyboard could use some improvement.” Now, Microsoft is getting in on the game, introducing their Word Flow keyboard to both the Android and iOS platforms.Īccording to reports, Microsoft has been busy sending out emails to select users asking them to give their new keyboard a try. Because of that, many third party keyboard applications have popped up for both Android and iOS, and if you ask the people that use them, they would never go back to the default keyboards.
